Celebrating 20 Years of "In Through The Outdoor"

 As we enter deeper in 2024, it is now time to remember and celebrate our break through documentary film; "In Through The Outdoor". This film was nominated for best film at the 2004 X Dance Film Festival and won for best editing. Jeff Roe from Fish Egg Films was crucial in helping this amazing film come to life. That being said, I will be posting snippets of the film through the next few months. Hopefully we can get something going to have a "viewing" in the very near future...

El Walrus Stickers Coming Soon

 

In celebration of my 50th B-Day this coming April, I will be re-releasing the all original art "El Walrus" by Richard Sanchez. For those of you who do not know the story behind this graphic and nickname, a little history lesson...

Back in 2000 my best friend and hermano Mike Mckinnis said that every time I skated due to my "large size" at the time and my goat T; I looked like a Walrus. Thus he started calling me as such, it stuck and the rest is history...

Over the years people would come up to me and call me "The Walrus" and I accepted the nickname with a smile and good will. Years later in 2009, my beloved friend Chris Thatcher drew up a "walrus graphic" for me, I sat on it for a long time. After his death I was just not into it. After a few years when Richard Sanchez saw it, he asked if he could do his own rendition of it and of course in Richard fashion, he created a master piece. So there you have it, "El Walrus"....

Well, I guess I can finally start to get my AARP card now :)

A little history  behind this iconic graphic...
Almost 20 years ago I had the idea of creating this graphic after one of my most beloved beers. This was before all the hype and was really a beer only individuals from the "old school" were down with. My good friend and amazing artist Bart Saric told me he could do it and put a really cool spin on it by making it a characterization of an actual can. A few days latter, the Sacrifice Blue Ribbon board graphic was done and the rest is history. I have not made this graphic in over 5 years and I rarely make it at all anymore. We are celebrating our 20th Anniversary this year, so now is the perfect time to re-issue this iconic Bart Saric masterpiece. So get your wallet out and buy a piece of skate history!
